We now offer a variety of raised panels that can easily be attached to the sides of the newel post or posts that are already installed in your staircase. You can choose to add just one panel to a newel or put one on each side. If you currently have a fluted or a recessed panel newel post, no problem. These will go right over top and cover what is already there. Just make sure you ask for a SOLID raised panel and give us the dimensions of the current milling, so it will be completely covered.
By taking the 10 or 15 minutes to install your choice of panel(s) on your post(s), you can make a dramatic change in the look of your staircase. Installation is very easy, and can be done by anyone with a tape measure, hammer, a few finish nails, nail hole filler, and a small amount of wood glue.
The process of finishing these panels is also very easy. You can paint, stain, or clear coat prior to installation, so there is no mess in the house, and no edging or taping necessary. How you finish it will depend on the look that you want. If you have a painted newel now, you may want a stained panel, and to make your newel stand out even more, add one of our wood newel caps that can be stained to match.
